The View – Live at The Academy
Scottish indie rockers The View have announced an Irish date at The Academy in Dublin on Wednesday the 13th of April 2011. Tickets priced €23.00 inclusive of booking fee will be on sale from Friday February 4th through Ticketmaster outlets nationwide or online at www.ticketmaster.ie
Plucked from their somewhat bleak youth training jobs and blasting straight into a number 1 debut album, cash, wealth, fame and infamy in equal doses before their twenties, it’s easy to understand that it’s been an intense and electrifying journey.
The band’s follow up record, “Which Bitch?” was written mostly in the studio and confused as many as it amazed. Ambitious, dark and carefully disheveled, it saw the band evolve musically into surprising new territory.
Gathering their thoughts in the lead up to a third album, and still charmingly young and youthful, the stormy seas of the music industry may have taken a modest toll on their view of the world. Despite success, derision and conviction they remain refreshingly unchanged. Amid Spotifying doom-mongers and credit crunch brutalities it’s an important thing to have kept.
The View are making positive steps to advance their own agenda. Rather than plundering rock ‘n’ roll fantasy and excess, it’s time for them to remember what it was that gave birth to their extraordinary popular explosion in the first place. The band almost completed their third effort, and begun a process of focused live rehearsal. Drawing on the best aspects of their previous efforts, the catchy simplicity of Hats Off… and the unexpected maturity of Which Bitch, the band look forward to a winter of creation and re-creation.
