Grannys Intentions, Ireland’s leading beat group of the 60s, reunite for a special live concert date at The Olympia Theatre in Dublin on Wednesday the 30th of October 2011. Tickets priced from €28 including booking fee will be on sale from Wednesday the 6th of July through Ticketmaster and usual outlets nationwide.

After rousing Dublin with their soul touch, Granny’s Intentions were one of the first Irish bands to move to London, where they were signed to the prestigious Deram record label and played residencies in leading clubs like the Marquee and the Speakeasy during the bloom years of flower power. Many of Ireland’s finest and brightest musicians passed through Granny’s ranks during their heady years on the road, including the legendary Gary Moore. This reincarnation of the group will feature the original Limerick lineup of Cha Haran, Johnny Hockedy, Jack Costelloe, Guido DiVito and Johnny Duhan. The Band’s ephemeral quest to shine in the limelight of the 60s is transformed in these songs into a more enduring aim.
Burning Again

Grannys Intentions’ single Burning Again captures something of the spirit of the band in their heyday in the 60s when they swept like a bush fire through the beat-club scene of Ireland and then moved to Swinging London, a lamp that other bands followed. The energy that drove them back then works with equal intensity in this new song, with the added ingrediant of the wisdom of age informing the lyric. Drawing on the diverse strands of melodic and poetic threads that have occupied their lead singer in developing his skill through a lifetime’s calling in song, the band have come up with a convincing portrayal of what it feels like to be part of a group with a high aim.
