Dublin Hip Hip / R&B trio The Original Rudeboys blew a crowd of 5,000 Oxegen Festival revellers away with one of the festival’s hottest performances from the Vodafone Stage on Friday July 8th 2011. The band delivered live cuts of their songs that are now cult status as a result of over 250,000 Youtube views. These included ‘Stars in My Eyes’, ‘Summer Days’ and a cracking version of Knarls Barkley’s ‘Crazy’. The band finished off their set leaving the ecstatic crowd screaming for more, but announced that they will be performing an intimate live concert date at The Sugar Club in Dublin on August 12th 2011. Such is the media interest in The Original Rudeboys, that they were interviewed following their performance at Oxegen for RTE TV News as well as a host of national and regional radio stations on site.
All three of their Dublin Academy 2 shows in June 2011 sold out in a flash.
Based in Dublin’s North Inner City, The Original Rudeboys formed in March 2011 when all three members realized that they had something unique, offering a distinct and refreshing sound with a combination of acoustic guitar and ukulele blended with soulful and Hip Hop voices. The Original Rudeboys have created a new fusion of music whilst continuing to respect their different influences.
The Rudeboys’ messages is to look beyond our world so often discoloured by hurt, racism & sadness and see hope, faith, respect and most of all to choose life.
