Fountains of Wayne make a long awaited return to Ireland to play one exclusive show in Dublin whereby they will perform live at The Academy of Middle Abbey Street on Sunday the 13th of November 2011. The American power pop band released their hotly anticipated fifth studio album, ‘Sky Full of Holes’ in Europe earlier this Autumn. Tickets priced €18.00 including booking fee are on sale now through Ticketmaster and usual outlets nationwide. Fountains of Wayne recorded their latest album ‘Sky Full of Holes’ in New York – the 13 new songs on the album ranges from brilliant high-energy power pop to intimate, acoustic driven ballads. FOW first shot to international fame with their hit single ‘Stacy’s Mom’, the iconic video which featured model Rachel Hunter received over 5 million views on YouTube. The quartet continue to showcase their musical talents, and in signature FOW fashion their latest album manages to be simultaneously witty, imaginative and personal.
Formed in New York in 1996 by Chris Collingwood and Adam Schlesinger, Fountains Of Wayne took their name from an iconic garden store in nearby Wayne, New Jersey. The band also consists of guitarist Jody Porter and drummer Brian Young. The band have received steady critical accolades since its inception; including nominations for two Grammys. MOJO Magazine included Fountains of Wayne in their book, The Greatest Albums Of All Time, calling the band “almost better than anything, ever”.
