Oxegen Music Festival cancelled for 2012!

Dec 21, 2011 1 Comment by Musicscene

Obviously not a huge shock to the system since ticket sales plummeted from a usual sold out capacity 80,000 to a mediocre 58,00 last year, Music Scene is sad to reveal that Oxegen music festival is taking a one year hiatus. On the 21st of December 2011, promoters MCD issued the following statement through their Facebook page: “Oxegen, like Glastonbury (or the Meteor Awards…), is taking a year off in 2012 and it will be back in 2013. Wishing everyone a very Happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year. Keep Rockin’ in 2012 and we’ll see you in 2013. Your Oxegen team.

It is a shame to hear this news we know, but let’s face it – we’ve still got plenty of gigs in The O2 to look forward to. Not to mention The Stone Roses in The Phoenix Park, RHCP in Croker, aswell as Castlepalooza and Electric Picnic 2012.

Let’s hope it comes back with a bang in 2013 though!

Have a nice sleep Oxegen – we’ll miss you.
