Heartbreaker by The Minutes: Review by Laura Rai
‘Heartbreaker’ is the third single to be taken from The Minutes‘ debut studio album ‘Marcata’ and shall be released here in Ireland on February 10th 2012. The previous single ‘Black Keys’ mixed it up with brass, while the chords in ‘Fleetwood’ petered out to shimmering contemplation, however, this time round The Minutes stick to delivering the pure, loud and driving rock at their core. Overall, ‘Heartbreaker’ is an example of what The Minutes do best, and that is delivering the pounding rock ‘n’ roll that makes you hop around your bedroom like a lunatic punching the walls. With some yelping at the end, it’s a wonder lead singer Mark Austin’s voice is still marvellously intact.
In a time where bands state that rock ‘n’ roll is dying, you would love to shove this single in their face!
9/10
