Irish singer Róisín O kicks off the summer season with the launch of her anticipated debut single ‘Here We Go’. Available for download from Friday May 25th 2012, the single (inspired by a long weekend at Electric Picnic) is an enticing taster for fans before the release of her debut album this Autumn on 3ú Records.
Róisín O and her band have been crafting this studio album for the last two years and with the involvement of acclaimed Irish producer David Odlum (The Frames, Gemma Hayes, Josh Ritter), it promises a debut not to be missed.
Performing and writing since she left school, Róisín O added musicians Alan Tully (guitars and vocals), Darren O’Reilly (drums and vocals), Brian Murphy (bass and unwillingly, vocals) and Ruth O’Mahony Brady (keys and vocals) to her act, and together they have honed her acoustic-rock feel.
2011 saw Róisín O‘s busiest year to date, as she launched her EP ‘The Thrill’, performed two headline shows in Whelan’s (of Wexford Street in Dublin), frequently appeared at The Academy, Vicar Street and The Olympia Theatre, and brought her powerful vocals to audiences as far flung as Germany, Holland, The US and a highly acclaimed performance at the Port Fairy Folk Festival in Australia.
The busy 23 year old can boast support slots with Mary Black, Imelda May, The Coronas, Brad Paisley and Robert Cray on many of Ireland’s biggest stages, and was invited to perform live on the Pat Kenny Show on RTE 1 and Ireland AM on TV3 among others. Róisín O has recorded with Paul Brady and Mary Black and her song ‘Drifting’ was chosen for the latest ‘Woman’s Heart Now’ compilation, alongside Lisa Hannigan, Wallis Bird, Cathy Davey and many more; still her powerful vocals were not overshadowed in the company of these excellent, established female singers.
“Her spectacularly limber voice is just the start – Miss O possesses a keen ear for a summery refrain…. Throw in a heart-stopping live show and we’ve got everything we look for in an Irish rose.” – Celine Murphy, Hotpress ‘Ones to watch 2012′
