Following a total three week stint in Dublin’s Circuit Criminal Court, Carol Hawkins has been convicted guilty of 181 acts of theft from U2’s Adam Clayton. Carol Hawkins worked as a personal assistant for Adam Clayton for many years, and it has been proved in court that she unlawfully stole over €2.8 million from his bank accounts between 2004 and 2008.

Carol Hawkins will be sentenced on July 6th 2012, after being released on bail until that point. Speaking directly to the jury, judge Patrick Mc Cartan stated the following: “The evidence in this case was overwhelming. Nobody could seriously disagree with the verdict you have given.”

Let’s hope it won’t take too long for bass player Adam Clayton to make up the €2.8 million he has been stripped of. Time to release your next studio album U2!
