To help celebrate Beatles legend Paul McCartney‘s 70th Birthday this coming Monday (June 18th 2012), The Modfather aka Paul Weller, has decided to release a cover version of 1968′s Beatles track ‘Birthday’ on the same day. For an exclusive 24 hour period, Paul Weller‘s (extremely good) version of ‘Birthday’ by The Beatles can be purchased via iTunes with all proceeds being donated to War Child.

Speaking about Beatles legend Paul McCartney, Paul Weller stated:

“I wanted to do something for Paul’s 70th, the man’s been, and still is, an immense and enduring inspiration for me. It was him and his three friends that made me want to pick up a guitar in the first place. I saw him play live recently and he inspired me just as much as ever, he was brilliant. I just hope he likes our little version, a token of my and the bands love for him and his music. Rock on Macca”.
