Jon Lord of Deep Purple dies aged 71…

Music Scene is sad to reveal that the legendary Jon Lord of Deep Purple has died at the age of 71, following his battle with pancreatic cancer in London on Monday July 16th 2012. Jon Lord was the co-founder of metal group Deep Purple, and was involved in penning classic hits such as ‘Smoke On The Water’ and ‘Child In Time’. Jon Lord was a member of Deep Purple since the beginning in 1968, and remained loyal until they went their separate ways in 1984.

Jon Lord‘s musical career also seen him take journeys with the likes of Whitesnake, Ashton And Lord, The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and much more.

In an official statement following his death, a representative revealed: “Jon passes from Darkness to Light”.

RIP Jon Lord: 9th of June 1941 – 16th of July 2012.
