Young Dublin singer songwriter Gavin James began to play guitar at the ripe age of eight years. After leaving secondary school, Gavin James gigged around Dublin’s Temple Bar and quickly began to establish a presence on the Irish music scene. While working on his live technique, his confidence was growing also, ultimately leading him to write his own tracks. “When I started some were quite funny, in a not particularly good way!” says Gavin James. “However, after trial and error I became more comfortable with the process and my life experiences growing also meant I had more to write about.”
Gavin’s talent comes from his mother’s side of the family. His great grandparents were both famous Irish opera singers and had their own album released in the early 1900′s. Since signing a record deal on his 21st Birthday, Gavin James has been a very busy musician! Selling out his first headline show at The Grand Social in Dublin was followed by guesting for Ryan Sheridan at The Olympia Theatre. Gavin James supported Ingrid Michaelson at her sell out Irish & UK tour in November 2012, supported Nouvelle Vague on their Irish tour in August and in December 2012, and was invited to guest open as special guest for Marina & the Diamonds at The Olympia Theatre in Dublin last November.
Gavin James’ ‘Say Hello’ EP was released on November 2nd 2012 and entered the Irish iTunes album chart at No.1! ‘Say Hello’ by Gavin James continues to climb the Irish radio charts top 30 making him the most played new Irish artist on Irish radio.
