Keeping their heads down since September 2016, good news for Killers fans is that Brandon Flowers & Co. are well into the recording process for their highly anticipated 5th studio album. Although a title is yet to be revealed etc, we can report that progression is ongoing and that it “feels heavier” than anything they’ve done to date. In a recent interview with Q Magazine, the frontman spoke about their follow up to 2012′s ‘Battle Born‘ revealing that “There are moments that feel heavier than anything we’ve ever done, not that we’re the heaviest band in the world, but they have a finesse because of our experience,” said Flowers. “There’s also really beautiful things. Lyrically, it’s really close to home.”
Approached about individual track highlights, he stated:
“There’s one called ‘Rut’ and we were all kind of excited about what was happening with that. Another is called ‘Run For Cover’ and that comes from ‘Day & Age’. so it’s eight-years-old. It started with Stuart Price and it still sort of has his stamp on it – but we’re funneling it back through the band eight years later with a different producer (Jacknife Lee).”
He continued: “There’s one called ‘Tyson Vs Douglas’, (aptly titled because the lyrics are about the night heavyweight boxer James Buster Douglas shocked the world with his Mike Tyson knockout)… I think about it all the time and I finally tried to tackle it in a song.”
In other good news – The Killers are not short of laying down some new tour dates either. Denmark’s Tinderbox Festival has decided to add the Las Vegas collective to a headline slot, along with Kings Of Leon this coming June. Therefore, maybe a new Irish tour date will also surface in 2017. Who knows?
