The greatest frontman of our generation returns…

Jun 01, 2017 No Comments by Musicscene

We’ve witnessed Noel Gallagher continue his reign of lyrical genius since the split of Oasis back in 2009 (and long may that continue), rumours of a Gallagher reunion, the demise of Beady Eye etc. However, do we really want an Oasis reunion or is it more of a yearning for the ’90′s when the brothers Gallagher were the pinnacle of rock stardom and there was no such thing as attending a gig with a mobile phone in your hand… those we’re the good aul days we’re sure you’ll agree. From grabbing your best mates shoulders when the opening chords of ‘Wonderwall‘ exited the PA… to jumping up and down in a moshpit and going absolutely bonkers when ‘Acquiesce‘ got a run out… let’s face it – those are distant memories at this stage. It is 2017 afterall. Not 1996. Regardless of the above, Liam Gallagher is back… and hopefully for good!

Yes indeed, the 44 year old vocalist who still to this day is hailed as the greatest frontman of our generation, has returned to the music scene stating “It’s boring without me, isn’t it?

Well… yes Liam, YES IT IS!!!

From our perspective, back in August 2016, Liam Gallagher witnessed a preview of the iconic ‘Supersonic‘ movie (starring himself of course) and from that moment, he seemed to have realised that Oasis meant the world to millions of people and it was time to resurrect that gnarling vocal that was indeed, the voice of a generation. As he stated, “It doesn’t matter who wrote the f*cking songs and who f**king sung them, I’m the one that f*cking took them for a walk on the wild side.” And guess what? He’s spot on.

So, let’s introduce the first single ‘Wall Of Glass‘ which is taken from Liam Gallagher‘s eagerly anticipated debut solo LP ‘As You Were‘. Here it is, along with an accompanying promo video which is slightly reminiscent of Oasis’ ‘Morning Glory‘ US release, but this time he’s facing the camera without his big brother, Bonehead, Guigsy and Whitey. This is Liam Gallagher. Like it or lump it. He’s still got it.

Check it out right here on Music Scene:

Liam Gallagher performs live on stage at The Olympia Theatre in Dublin on Saturday the 10th of June 2017 to a completely sold out crowd who can expect plenty of his new material along with some Oasis classics such as ‘Slide Away‘ and ‘D’You Know What I Mean?‘.

LI-AM, LI-AM, Li-AM… it’s good to have you back sir.
